  Santa Caterina del Sasso is virtually unique in its power to generate emotions and arouse spiritual interest. Clinging to a rock face directly overhanging Lago Maggiore, this wonderful building combines historical appeal with the story of the miraculous rescue in 1170 of Alberto dei Besozzi (later Blessed), with the exceptionally spectacular scenery, fully demonstrating the strength of the waters of Verbano, which crash onto the rocky coastline.
